Partnership with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa

For over 14 years the Southern Institute of Technology and Te Wānanga o Aotearoa have had a Strategic Partnership Arrangement to offer Te Reo Māori programmes to students under SIT's Zero Fees Scheme.

This partnership began in 2005 and was first initiated by Rongo Wetere (founder of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa) and Penny Simmonds (former Chief Executive Officer of Southern Institute of Technology). 

Te Reo Māori courses available at SIT:

Basic Beginners

• New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo Māori Level 1
• New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo Māori Level 2

Beginners to Conversation

• New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo Māori Level 3
• New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo Māori Level 4

Conversational and Research

• New Zealand Diploma Te Hapūtanga o te Reo Māori L5
• Te Toi – Raranga – Weaving L3 (waiting accreditation)
