Te Wānanga o Aotearoa has recalibrated our long-term strategic plan (Te Pae Tawhiti) that defines our place in the tertiary education system by capturing our identity as a wānanga and unique contribution to Aotearoa.
The strategy review was prompted by the ongoing reality of rising costs in a capped funding environment and the shifting landscape of tertiary education in the wake of the vocational education reforms.
Towards the end of 2020, Te Mana Whakahaere approved Te Pae Tawhiti 2025 which provides three strategic objectives in order to be a more relevant, quality and financially sustainable provider:
- Offering a relevant and sustainable programme mix
This objective recognises that in order to be here for future generations, we have to have a pipeline of relevant programmes that meet the needs of tauira, iwi, employers and industry.
- Putting our tauira at the centre
This objective recognises that in order to deliver a transformational tauira experience, we must put tauira at the heart of everything we do.
- Ensuring sustainability through educational excellence
This objective recognises that in order to be sustainable into the future we have to keep our eye fixed firmly on quality in all we do.
