An External Evaluation Review (EER) of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWoA) led by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) is proposed for the third quarter of 2017.

NZQA regularly undertakes EER to evaluate tertiary education providers’ educational performance and self-assessment capability.

The outcome of the EER will influence how external stakeholders interact with TWoA.

NZQA last evaluated TWoA in 2013 and awarded the organisation a ‘Category

One’ status, which is awarded to highly competent tertiary educational organisations.

TWoA aims to maintain a Category One standard.

Marley Matamua, (Project Specialist - EER) is currently working with nominated representatives of the NZQA to confirm the scope of the EER.

The scope will identify the programmes that will be reviewed and associated sites.

“We can confirm that the focus of the EER at Te Puna Mātauranga will be on strategy and management,” said Marley.

“We expect the scope will be confirmed before the end of the year. Once this is known, all kaimahi will be informed.”

Marley said the first Arotake Whakarite (mock EER) will commence October 25 at the Mangere campus.

She said it was important for kaimahi to seek positive tauira programme feedback and course completion rates as this will contribute positively to next year’s EER.
